Turkey will continue extending an oil and gas Kurdish pipeline with the consent of Baghdad
The Iraqi Oil Minister Abdul Karim Loaibi said that Turkey had informed Iraq that it will refuse to extend any oil and gas pipelines from Kurdistan without the approval of the the Baghdadi government as there is a long dated dispute between the Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government on lands and oil exploitation rights.
Baghdad hangs on the fact that it is the only authority controlling the oil exports in the fourth largest country in the world in terms of the size of oil reserves, while the Kurds believe that they have a right to export oil under the Federal Constitution which was drafted after the US-led invasion in 2003.
