The latest reports on global oil reserves from approved sources, including the International Energy Agency, British Petroleum review and OPEC, indicate that the world’s largest proven oil reserves fall under the territory of 5 countries.

Venezuela leads the list of major reserves with 301 billion barrels, followed by Saudi Arabia 267 billion barrels, then Canada 170 billion barrels, Iran 158 billion barrels, and Iraq 143 billion barrels.

And in a lower ranking in terms of volume of oil reserves stand out Kuwait with 102 billion barrels, the Emirates 98 billion barrels, Russia 80 billion barrels, Libya 48 billion, Nigeria 37 billion, the United States 37 billion, Kazakhstan 30 billion, China 27 billion, Qatar 25 billion, Brazil 13 billion.
