Saudi Aramco Launch First Hydrogen Fuel Station in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco and Air Products launched the first hydrogen fuel station in the Kingdom at the new technology center of Air Products in Dhahran Technology Park. The experimental plant will provide high-pressure hygienic pressure for an initial fleet of hydrogen-powered Toyota Merai electric cars

The announcement comes amid increasing international consensus on hydrogen benefits. According to a report released last week by the International Energy Agency, hydrogen has enormous potential to reduce carbon emissions from various energy sectors.

“This is an important event in the field of research and developments the inauguration of the first plant in the Kingdom to supply hydrogen fuel, an important step towards expanding the use of oil and gas as sources of hydrogen extraction and thus its use as fuel in transportation and sustainable transport, With a clean and non-impact environmental impact on climate change This represents a great opportunity for Aramco and Air Products to explore the potential of hydrogen fuel and achieve our goal of providing practical and sustainable energy sources for the future.

“It is well known that our world needs a sustainable system to meet the environmental challenges and meet the growing demand for energy, and that fuel cell and hydrogen technologies are ready to help meet these challenges,” said Chairman of the Board of

Directors of Air Products and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sefi Qassimi. “We are honored to collaborate with Saudi Aramco to establish and develop a sustainable hydrocarbon-derived hydrogen fuel cell system for fuel-efficient vehicles in the Kingdom.

The fuel supply technology of Smart Fuel, owned by Air Products, has been used in the new plant to supply Toyota’s electric MiRai electric vehicles with compressed hydrogen.

The data to be collected during the pilot phase of this project will provide useful information for evaluating the future applications of this emerging technology in the Kingdom
