Minister of Petroleum and DMG: Events Unfold Details of EGYPS 2017

His Excellency, Engineer Tarek El Molla, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources held a press conference in the lead up to Egypt Petroleum Show – EGYPS, which will take place between 14-16 February 2017 under the high patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The event is gearing up to be the largest industrial platform in the region, and set to kick off under the theme: “Gateway to Egypt’s new oil and gas opportunities” with a growing participation of senior leaders representing the global and local oil and gas sector.
“EGYPS 2017 falls into line with the ministry’s strategic vision for year 2020/2021 to optimize sustainable use of natural resources, achieve long-term economic development, transform Egypt into a regional commercial centre, and present a national role model for a successful modernization process that maintains HSSE standards, innovation, work ethics, transparency, and competence,” El Molla said.
“The event is considered significant and special in terms of promoting Egypt among key industry stakeholders on an international scale, providing the latest insights into the fast evolving industry, showcasing Egypt’s oil and gas short and long-term strategies, and revealing promising investment opportunities,” he announced.
The minister further stated that the recent adopted economic procedures affirm the government’s commitment towards reform and constant development. The ministry of petroleum’s strategy will allow the country to attain self-sufficiency in gas production within the next two years, add value through petrochemical industry, fulfil export commitments, and transform Egypt into a regional trade hub along the lines of the new liberalisation law that will open natural gas sector to private investors.
“EGYPS 2017 will shed the light on Egypt’s Modernization Program for oil and gas sector, which aims at enhancing production capacity, encouraging young professionals to develop their careers, and reforming the ministry’s framework,” said El Molla.
Set across three days, the event will feature 44 technical and strategic sessions covering the entire upstream, midstream, and downstream value chain. EGYPS 2017 will also host a one day dedicated Women in Energy Conference. In addition, an exhibition will also be held featuring more than 400 participating exhibitors, comprising international pavilions, international oil companies, national oil companies, and service providers to showcase the latest utilized technologies in the oil and gas industry.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Christopher Hudson, President of Energy Division at DMG Events, stated, that EGYPS 2017 will highlight Egypt’s Modernization Five Year Program for the oil and gas industry and unlock all the potential the country has by consolidating communication with potential foreign investors and large international corporations on future projects to attract new investments, which will in turn forge financial stability and improve investment climate.
