Increasing the average oil production in Oman by 4% in 2012

Nasser Al Jashmi, the Undersecretary of the Omani Oil and Gas Ministry assured that the oil production of his country, including the condensates, has increased by 4% in 2012 to reach an average of 918 thousand barrels per day, mainly due to Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). He clarified that the increase was due to new discoveries in three different oil fields.

It is worth mentioning that the Omani production in 2011 reached about 885 thousand barrels per day. The Omani State Petroleum Development Company takes hold of about 70% of the total oil and gas production of the Sultanate. The company plans to spend $11 billion between 2013 and 2022 in 16 new oil projects in the upstream sector which includes exploration and production, and this will enhance the company production by a billion barrels in that period.
